Scroll Air Compressors

Hitachi pioneered the scroll compressor, introducing the first scroll more than 20 years ago. A better option than reciprocating oilfree air compressors. Hitachi scroll air Hitachi Scroll Compressor Model SRL5.5M6compressors use less electricity and cost less to maintain than oilfree reciprocating air compressors and lubricated rotary screw compressors. Hitachi stands behind its scrolls with a 24 month manufacturers warranty.

Why should you consider a Hitachi scroll compressor?

The above shows a cutaway view of a Hitachi scroll compressors heart. The scroll members are exposed.
  • Hitachi built the first scroll for air compression
  • Hitachi has 20 plus years experience building scroll compressors
  • Patented scroll wrap with labyrinth seal (Patent USP 6808372). Hitachi's unique scroll compression sets them apart.
  • Oil free air. 100% oil-less. No oil at all.
  • UL approved panel

Multi-stage Cooling

Cutaway View of SRL cabinet showing the primary and secondary coolers Employing a primary and secondary air cooler stabilizes discharge temperature. The coolers can be seen in the photo to the right. Primary cooler is on the bottom left. The secondary cooler is at top right. Most competitive products either have one small cooler or no cooler at all.

Controller

Hitachi units features Cycle Control Logic. A pressure control method that saves energy by minimizing short cycling. Short cycling is often caused by setting the maximum pressure low in an attempt to save money. Hitachi's auto-setting finds the optimum high pressure setting for your system based on compressed air demand. By optimizing the high pressure setting Hitachi scrolls save electricity and reduce or eliminate compressor short cycling.

Quiet Operation

Hitachi are among the quietest compressors available because...
  • Full enclosure is standard
  • Mechanical and electrical vibration isolation
  • Design for the minimization of leak paths

Maintenance Friendly

Hitachi builds its units with maintenance in mind. All regular maintenance items are easy to reach making maintenance and inspection easy. While keeping maintenance in mind Hitachi also designs its scroll compressors with the smallest footprint possible.

How it Works

Demonstrates how the sroll members interact to compress air on a Hitachi SRL. Two parts make up the scroll:
  1. Orbiting scroll member
  2. Fixed scroll member
These two scroll members are mated to each other. The rotary motion of the orbiting scroll member compresses the air. The resulting compressed air is oil-free and contaminant free.
