A Closer Look
Vibrating Filter
The NOWATA / PROGUARD vibrating filter offers a unique technology to improve in efficiency and system run times. These improvements are seen in companies currently
removing trace contaminants from high solid process streams or slurries – for example, painting applications. Many companies currently utilize older technologies
such as bag filters or cartridge filter elements, which are maintenance intensive and often involve process shutdown for change-out.
Filter Highlights
The NOWATA / PROGUARD vibrating filter offers a vast improvement in on-line run times. In most cases, the NOWATA vibrating filter increases operational filter
run times 2 to 4 times versus a bag filter or filter cartridge.
Over the past several years, some facilities have cut back on their number of employees. Since the cutbacks, there has often been simply no time for high
maintenance equipment. In some cases, valuable product is “held-up” in bag or cartridge filters and money is lost.
Safety may be an additional issue for consideration in reducing filter change-out that can also reduce the opportunity for hazardous product contact with
an operator.
How Does it Work?
The vibration characteristic of the filter is created by a pneumatic vibrating mechanism that is attached directly to the filter element. This action generates
a high frequency, low amplitude vibration that prevents a cake or a formation of oversize particles from building up on the outside surface of the filter media.
In essence, this is true filtration by classification, permitting the selected particle size to pass through the media and retaining the larger oversized particles.
The vibrating filter is easily regenerated since the particles rest on the filter surface. The contaminant can be backwashed, washed or sprayed off easily.
A side benefit for quality control purposes is the contaminant can be retrieved from the outer filter surface for analysis.
The vibrating filter is constructed of 316L grade stainless steel and designed to code standard. The system is designed to withstand 300 PSI operating pressure.
The elastomeric material is Viton encapsulated in Teflon.
